Alicia Vikander: Best Supporting Actress Oscar Nominee

It has been a good year for Alicia Vikander.

The Swedish actress has been showered with praise for her roles in “Ex Machina” and “The Danish Girl.” And it’s the latter film that has boosted her profile as a Best Supporting Actress nominee in the Oscar race.

In the biographical drama, she portrays Danish painter Gerda Wegener, the wife of fellow artist Lili Elbe (played by Eddie Redmayne), one of the first known recipients of a gender reassignment procedure.

Vikander’s performance had already earned her SAG and Critics’ Choice awards, making her a strong contender for Oscar gold.
