Ben Affleck Talks About Kid-Friendly ‘Batman v Superman’

Ben Affleck has won acclaim for dramas like “Argo” and “Gone Girl,” but it’s his role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” that has his biggest-little fans excited.

“I haven’t done anything my kids could see for a long time,” the Son of Gotham hero admits to Ellen DeGeneres during a Wednesday interview on her talk show. “My son thinks it’s cool–he thinks it’s really cool.” Affleck shares son Samuel with actress Jennifer Garner, whom he split from last year after 10 years of marriage. Together they also have daughters Violet, 10, and Seraphina, 7.

Ben Affleck’s Batman Is ‘Different’ From Christian Bale

The Oscar winner says that director Zack Snyder‘s interpretation of Batman offers a stark contrast from the franchise’s tragic version of the Dark Knight. “It’s a much different take,” he says, adding, “I wouldn’t have wanted to try to do what Chris Nolan and Christian Bale did.”

Unlike some of the R-rated fare on his resume, he says “Batman v Superman” makes his day at work sound much more exciting to his son.

“When I leave, he’s like, ‘Dad, are you going to the Batcave?’ He thinks I’m in the Batcave now,” says Affleck. “He says, ‘Watch out for the Joker.'”

Of course, in the forthcoming action flick, his big enemy is Cavill’s Superman.

Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eisenberg, camps it up as an eccentric villain determined to bring down Gotham’s saviors–seemingly pulling the strings behind their rivalry.

Gal Gadot, who makes her first appearance as Wonder Woman in the movie, joins forces to keep peace.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens March 25.
