Like everyone else, you have awakened to the frenzy that is “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The seventh film in the franchise opened to $57 million, besting the best-selling Thursday-night ticket sales record held by 2011’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” ($43.5M). It is expected to gross $1.5 billion worldwide.

Director J.J. Abrams’ reimagining of the galaxy far, far away finds a diversified set of heroes in female lead Daisy Ridley as Rey and black actor John Boyega as Finn. Fellow newcomers Oscar Isaac commands the skies as a hotshot pilot, Gwendoline Christie stars as a fierce Stormtrooper captain and Lupita Nyong’o  lends her voice to CGI character Maz Kanata. Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Luke Hamill reprise their roles from the “Star Wars” trilogy nearly 30 years ago.
