“Creed” knocked out the competition as the Black Film Critics Circle’s top film of 2015, it was announced Monday.

And the honors continued for its cast, with Michael B. Jordan named as Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress awards for Sylvester Stallone, who reprises his role as Rocky Balboa, and Tessa Thompson, who plays Creed’s romantic interest.

As the titular Adonis Johnson Creed in the Rocky franchise’s seventh sequel, Jordan plays a budding boxer mentored by Stallone’s Rocky Balboa. He is the son of Rocky’s former rival-turned-friend Apollo Creed (a role played by Carl Weathers), who died after a fatal knockout blow in the fourth “Rocky” sequel.
