'Interstellar' Named Most Pirated Film of 2015

“Intersteller” blasted off at the box office but landed in a black hole.

Matthew McConaughey’s space odyssey was named as the most pirated movie in 2015, according to data published earlier this month in “The World Almanac and Book of Facts 2016.”

Of course, by illegally downloading the film, the true crime was in not seeing director Christopher Nolan’s spectacular visual effects on the big screen. It earned the Best Visual Effects Oscar at the 87th Academy Awards.

Following behind the drama on the list is “Furious 7,” the hit racing franchise that featured Paul Walker in a posthumous performance. “American Sniper,” “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” and “Fifty Shades of Grey” round out the top five most pirated pictures.
