With millions of eyes glued to the tube to watch Super Bowl 50 yesterday, some of the most action-packed moments didn’t play out on the field between the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers on CBS. No, it happened during the Big Game’s commercial breaks as ad spots for “Captain America: Civil War,” “Jason Bourne,” “Deadpool”, “X-Men: Apocalypse” and more hero flicks rolled out.
Of course, the audience, according to statistics, is 53 percent male–so the teasers that aired mostly played to that demo.
For the studios, the nearly $5 million price tag for 30 seconds of air time was likely worth it. The sports showdown delivered the second highest viewership numbers for the Super Bowl, falling short of last year’s record (114.4 million), according to early Nielsen data released.
Below, the movie commercials that aired:
“Captain America: Civil War”
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2”
“10 Cloverfield Lane”
“Gods of Egypt”
“The Secret Life of Pets”
“The Jungle Book”
“Independence Day: Resurgence”
