For better or worse, it’s a world she knows well.
Kristen Stewart, thrown into the celebrity whirlwind at age 18 from the “Twilight” movies, is getting awards buzz by playing a movie star’s personal assistant in the dark comedy “Clouds of Sils Maria.”
“As somebody who’s dealt with the more absurd, really surreal, oftentimes insanely superficial, empty circus of what the media can be — and perception versus reality — I thought it was really funny and appropriate for me to play that part,” Stewart, now 25, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “There was just nobody who could say those things with more knowing, and people know that. I wanted those words in my mouth.”
It’s also a world that Daisy Ridley may soon find herself because the worldwide sensation of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” So does Stewart have any advice for the 23-year-old Ridley?
“Focus on the fact that you’re stoked ’cause you’re doing the work that you want to do,” she says. “It’s literally mainly just about focusing on what makes you happy. And if losing your anonymity or whatever doesn’t make you happy, then focus on something else.”
