Ray Romano Learns What Kind of Father-in-Law He’ll Be from Ice Age: Collision Course
Beware, future son-in-law: You may not love Raymond.
Ray Romano discovered some cold realities about himself while voicing Manny the mammoth in “Ice Age: Collision Course.” It seems his character’s fatherly predicament in the fifth movie in the animated franchise hit a little too close to home for Romano.
“Well, Manny is about to lose his daughter to a stupid man,” Romano, the father in real life of an adult daughter, tells Made in Hollywood reporter Kylie Erica Mar. “He’s a stupid man who only wants one thing.”
“You definitely relate to the story,” says Mar.
“I do relate,” says Romano. “Adam Devine plays that stupid son-in-law to me.”
Ray Romano Was Surprised Producers Made a Fifth Ice Age
Okay, so it’s still early. Romano says his daughter Alexandra “is out of the house but so far she’s not getting married.” If and when that day comes, Romano can look back on Manny’s life lessons.
“It’s good for me to see that it works out,” he says. “Because if it works out here, I know it’ll work out in real life.”
This is the fifth in the “Ice Age” franchise, and Romano says he was surprised producers could keep the series going.
“We kind of assumed four was it,” he says. “That’s what I heard for awhile, that this was the last one, four. About a year ago, they said, ‘We’ve got another one!’ I said, ‘Send the script over, I’m ready.'”
