Director Ryan Coogler is already a fresh new voice in filmmaking–and now he aims to tap the next generation of talent.
The “Creed” filmmaker will lead efforts to find emerging entertainment industry professionals in the UK as the Warner Bros. Creative Talent Ambassador, it was announced Thursday.
Recalling how he benefitted early in his career from support he received in a similar program as a Time Warner Foundation Fellow, he said: “It is fantastic to know that passionate young people of all backgrounds are being given the chance to follow their dreams here in the UK.”
“This can be a tough industry and so we need to do what we can to bring talented young people into it.”
The program offers scholarships that provide work placements, mentoring, apprenticeships and training courses. The WB division extends to film, TV, video games and theater operations.
Coogler rose to fame after writing and directing the critically praised “Fruitvale Station” and helming last year’s hit “Creed.” He will next direct Marvel’s “Black Panther.”
