Suicide Squad Cast Steps Out in Magazine Covers
They’re all dressed up and ready for mayhem
Meet the anti-heroes from “Suicide Squad” on four Entertainment Weekly covers featuring Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
The squad has come a long way from what director David Ayer called third-level property at DC Comics, about a group of villains rounded up by the government to save to the world, to now becoming one of the most anticipated movies of the summer.
“No one knew anything about it. It was a cool little playground,” Ayer tells Entertainment Weekly. “Now it’s like the hype bus. All of the attention has swung onto it, and it has to carry a lot more weight than it was ever intended to.”
One of the most intriguing characters is The Joker, taken on by Oscar winner Leto after memorable movie versions by Jack Nicholson and the late Heath Ledger.
“You don’t know what The Joker is going to do next; you never do,” Leto tells the magazine. “It was intoxicating to have no rules.”
“Suicide Squad” opens Aug. 5. See the covers below:
