Sylvester Stallone: Best Supporting Actor Nominee

Sylvester Stallone is used to playing the underdog on the big screen, but now he’s the long shot in a completely different arena—the Academy Awards.

The 69-year-old is up against some heavyweight contenders in the Supporting Actor Oscar race for a compelling portrayal of his ailing Rocky Balboa character–now a boxing trainer to Michael B. Jordan in “Creed.”

Sly faces off for Oscar gold against Christian Bale in “The Big Short,” Tom Hardy in “The Revenant,” Mark Ruffalo in “Spotlight” and Mark Rylance in “Bridge of Spies.”

He was recently honored with a standing ovation when the performance nabbed him a statue at the Golden Globes. He’s our top pick to knock out the Oscars competition.
