The 'Gross' Job Jason Bateman Wanted as a Kid

The “gross” job Jason Bateman first wanted didn’t turn out so bad for a trio of Oscar winners.

“I know it’s kind of gross,” Bateman tells Made in Hollywood, “but I wanted to be Robert De Niro or Dustin Hoffman or Al Pacino–I wanted to be a character actor.”

As a class clown when he was young, the “Zootopia” star, who lends his voice to a fox named Nick Wilde in the animated feature, adds that he knew he was destined for a rather different path.

“I never thought that I would be a kid on TV doing sitcom and making people laugh,” he explains, referring to his hit comedy series “Arrested Development.” “That’s where I went because I got kicked out of school a lot cracking wise all of the time.”

In “Zootopia” Bateman’s Nick Wilde helps a rookie rabbit police officer named Judy Hopps, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, solve a mystery in a world where animals make the rules.

Featuring voice talent from Shakira, Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Nate Torrence, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer, Bonnie Hunt, and more, the Disney film opens March 4.
