'The Martian,' 'Ex Machina' Win Top Screenwriters Choice Awards

“The Martian” and “Ex Machina” have the write stuff.

The sci-fi flicks received the top honors at the 11th annual Final Draft Screenwriters Choice Awards on Thursday in Los Angeles.

“The Martian” scribe Drew Goddard won the Best Adapted Screenplay award (book by Andy Weir) and Alex Garland took the Best Original Screenplay for “Ex Machina.”

Both screenplays are among the contenders in the Oscar race in their respective categories.
