‘Divergent: Allegiant’ Star Theo James Thrilled to Shoot Fight Scenes

The more violent, the better, says Theo James!

The costar of “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” wasn’t expecting so much knife-wielding in the third installment of the sci-fi fantasy series, but he’s not disappointed by it.

“[Director] Robert [Schwentke] had this idea of a Korean close-quarters knife fight, ” James told Made in Hollywood. “It was fun, because in these movies, I didn’t think I’d get to get that violent, and it’s pretty violent.”

This isn’t the only difference you can expect from James’ character Four. The actor said that this time around he isn’t trying to protect Shailene Woodley’s Tris and “quell her impulsivity” as much.

“I think in this movie, he’s kind of got over that in a way,” James said. “I think he can take a step back and make informed decisions. I enjoyed the fact that they actually split up. They go in different directions.”

The film, which also stars Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz, Jeff Daniels and Octavia Spencer, hits theaters on Friday.
