What Movies Are Out This Weekend: Independence Day 2, The Neon Demon, Eat That Question
On this week’s Made in Hollywood TV show, Vivica A. Fox announces the return of the “Independence Day” franchise with the sequel “Independence Day: Resurgence” that brings back Fox and other cast members, plus those pesky aliens bent on destroying our planet.
Several newcomers are also on board, including Jessie T. Usher and Liam Hemsworth. “For the past 20 years Earth has been rebuilding and preparing for another attack,” Hemsworth tells Made in Hollywood reporter Kylie Erica Mar during a visit to the set.
And when that attack comes, get ready for more special effects excitement from returning director Roland Emmerich.
In “The Neon Demon,” Elle Fanning plays a fashion model plunged into a world both outrageous and familiar in this genre-breaking horror-satire.
“The fashion industry is a great backdrop for our film because it is so glamorous,” Fanning says. “The whole world is beauty obsessed.”
Adds costar Bella Heathcote, “Narcissism is probably more celebrated than it ever was with the advent of social media, but I’m hoping it’s not all as dark and vicious as this.”
Nearly 23 years after his death, the iconic rocker and social commentator Frank Zappa gets the last word on his own life story in the documentary “Eat That Question: Frank Zappa In His Own Words,” culled from vintage interviews and concert footage.
His daughter Moon Unit Zappa tells Made in Hollywood the documentary shows a side of Zappa many didn’t know. “The tenacity, the endurance, the willingness to just stay the course and the commitment are so strong,” she says. “It’s really inspirational to have that man as a parent.”
