What Movies Are Out This Weekend: Now You See Me 2, The Conjuring 2
You won’t believe your eyes as Made in Hollywood explores what movies are out this weekend by going behind the screen of two sequels about magic and malicious spirits.
In “Now You See You Me: The Second Act,” illusionists Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson are back in trouble, this time in Macau as tech wizard Daniel Radcliffe forces the magicians to steal a chip that controls the world’s computers, while FBI agent Mark Ruffalo seeks vengeance for his father’s death.
“There’s a lot of big concepts in the script,” Harrelson tells Made in Hollywood reporter Kylie Erica Mar.
Look also for more spectacular tricks, though the actors admit they didn’t really need Houdini skills themselves. “We have the magic of movie-making that helps us out quite a bit,” says Ruffalo. The movie’s out Friday.
In “The Conjuring 2,” also out Friday, paranormal investigators Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson come out of their sabbatical to rid an English home of evil spirits in a story made all the scarier because it’s based on actual events.
“There are some very concrete details that were recorded or verified by cops, neighbors, a lot of people,” Wilson tells Made in Hollywood reporter Patrick Stinson.
And check out how the creators of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” brought the comic critters to life by combining computer effects with live-action actors with special skills.
“The boys that play the turtles don’t get enough credit,” says the film’s star, Stephen Amell, “because they really do imbue the turtles with most of, if not the majority of their little idiosyncratic elements, their body language and certainly their voices.”
