Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie, Karen Fukuhara, Jai Courtney Just Can’t Keep It Together
Dark, dangerous, weird? Maybe on screen, but in real life the “Suicide Squad” stars can get a little silly.
“It was an awesome process,” Courtney told Made in Hollywood reporter Kylie Erica Mar. “We really dug it – with a shovel!”
That last phrase set off Robbie and Fukuhara, who got a case of the giggles. Courtney kept trying to talk, saying “The process to get into it, the preproduction –” only got the actresses laughing harder.
“You’re digging the hole even bigger now,” Mar suggested.
Courtney gave up. “I need to dig up!”
How Suicide Squad Stars Margot Robbie, Karen Fukuhara and Jai Courtney Bonded During Filming
The moment showed just how much this diverse cast bonded while making the DC Comics action film about a gang of violent, angry and misunderstood misfits recruited by the government to defeat an even more villainous force.
As Robbie and Fukhara tried to settle down, Courtney tried to get serious.
“We actually are (a family),” he said. “I don’t know if it was by design. I don’t see how it could have been. The potential was really only for disaster getting this many individuals in a room.”
“It’s like herding cats,” suggested Robbie.
“It just kind of happened by accident,” added. Courtney. “I think we really leaned on each other through the rehearsal process. We were training together day in and day out, pushing each other harder, supporting each other. And also like the practical side of having a group of people you’re working with every single day in a city that no one’s from, chances are things may get social and you may end up liking each other.”
