Jared Leto Loses the Eyebrows Again for Suicide Squad
Jared Leto‘s Joker in the dark and twisted anti-superhero film “Suicide Squad” has more in common than one might think with Rayon, the transgender AIDS patient with a drug problem from the indie “Dallas Buyers Club.”
“I think that I’m probably the only actor who has shaved their eyebrows and worn lipstick back to back in two films,” Leto said Wednesday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” “They started to grow back slower and slower, so I got a little scared, but they did come back,” he says. “It’s going to be strange to make a film with eyebrows and without lipstick. I’m going to feel kind of naked.”
“Suicide Squad,” opening Aug. 5, assembles DC Comics’ most dangerous incarcerated super villains for a government-sponsored mission against an evil enemy that they’re destined to fail at miserably and violently. It also stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Ben Affleck as Batman.
Jared Leto Opens Up About Playing The Joker in Suicide Squad
“‘Suicide Squad’ is about a bunch of homicidal maniacs having a really good time, just your regular popcorn movie,” Leto, who won a Support Actor Oscar for “Dallas Buyers Club,” explains. “I got the call was invited to play The Joker, which was terrifying and exciting and an honor. … These characters are so special to people and I have a lot of respect for that and it was just a really, really great opportunity.”
